(CBS DETROIT) – Many streets in Detroit are more like rivers.
An example is on Glastonbury and Chalfonte on the west side of the city.

“In fact, it was around 3 p.m., the water pressure in the house dropped, went out for a second and it was just gushing,” said a resident of Glastonbury, whose house is surrounded ice and water from a broken water main.
According to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, the city is investigating more than 200 weather-related complaints and working to repair 79 active breaks.
“We called the town and they were like ‘oh, that sounds like a service request’ and that was it,” continued the Glastonbury resident, who did not want to reveal his name.
“They were like someone would end up being there. So they came, left us a sign, that’s it.
DWSD officials said last month the city recorded more than 150 water main breaks, which is common in extreme weather.
Residents of Rosedale Park are coping with the aftermath of a water main break that flooded Artesian Street on Friday.
A neighbor in the neighborhood told CW50 that his yard was damaged on Sunday when crews came to make repairs.

“The main water main broke and the water was surging and it filled the whole block,” the Artesian Street resident said.
“For three days we called.”
DWSD officials say yards, sidewalks and driveways damaged by the repairs will be temporarily restored until DWSD can return in the spring for a permanent fix.
“I left my yard in a mess,” the owner said.
“I take care of my property, it has never looked like this. It’s horrible.”
The remaining breaks in Rosedale Park should be fixed.
