Mild weather so far in North Texas. Then comes the freezing cold, the winter mix

North Texas will experience mild weather before freezing cold heads into Dallas-Fort Worth later this week.

Monday’s highs will reach the mid-60s, with low temperatures in the mid-40s to lower 50s, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth said.

There will also be a chance of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms Monday afternoon in north and central Texas, the weather service said.

A sharp drop in temperatures will come on Wednesday, when a winter system brings an arctic cold front and winter mixing, the weather service said.

This cold front will bring rain all day Wednesday, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reportedwith temperatures in the 40s and 50s. Temperatures will drop below freezing Wednesday night, NBC5 reported.

The weather service said “dangerously cold” wind chills will be expected Thursday and Friday morning, with possibilities in the zero and single digits.
