Weather forecast for March 7: Rainy day, becoming colder | WIVT

(Monday, March 7, 2022) Rainy weather sets in on Monday. It’s cooler too.

It’s a cooler day, but still balmy for early March, as highs are expected to hit the 50s in the southern part. No record high 60 degrees coming Monday.

It’s a humid day with rain that can be heavy at times until midday before changing to scattered showers for most of the afternoon.

Rainfall amounts are expected to range from about a half inch to an inch for the most part. This may cause minor flooding in places, but no widespread flooding is expected in the area.

It’s colder behind the storm system responsible for Monday’s rain, and any remaining rain showers will turn to flurries after 7 or 8 Monday night.

A covering of maybe an inch or two of snow is possible for all Monday night. Lows drop back into the 20s to near 30s Monday night.

The additional half to one inch of rain with snowmelt on Monday could very well lead to minor localized flooding in rivers and streams. So if you live in an area prone to flooding, be on the lookout and make sure the sump pump is working for the next few days.

It’s cool and cooler on Tuesday with some lingering lake effect flurries throughout the first part of the day, but overall Tuesday looks like a drier day.

Some sunshine is also expected to develop on Tuesday. Highs are back in the 30s which is more normal for the first part of March.

The middle of this week seems milder and pleasant throughout the southern part.
