Building digital ecosystems | The Manila Times

HUAWEI’s 7th annual flagship event for the global ICT industry kicked off Monday in Bangkok, bringing together industry leaders, experts and partners from around the world to explore how to unleash digital productivity more effectively.

At Huawei Connect 2022, Ken Hu, Rotating Chairman of Huawei, delivered a keynote speech outlining three ways the ICT ecosystem could help overcome common barriers to digital transformation.

GDP growth has been volatile over the past two years. However, the digital economy has been growing steadily globally – over 15% in 2021. This has prompted many organizations to transform their operations and service offerings with next-generation digital technology.

“Going digital is clearly the right choice,” Hu said. “The demand is there, and so are the technologies. The world is unleashing digital productivity, and it’s right now.”

“The Philippines is bringing and launching a government cloud soon,” said David Almirol, Undersecretary of the Philippines Department of Information and Communications Technology, who also spoke at the event.

“Not just to unify what we have, but to build more government cloud services in the country and the government can’t do that without a really good partner. We have to unify everything we have, and we have to ask for the help from a lot of private companies. So our main intention is to find ways to build a foundation to invite everyone to build on this foundation, so that the government becomes an enabler for everyone,” Almirol said.

Building local ecosystems for shared success

At the event, Huawei reinforced its commitment to open collaboration and shared success. The company called on governments and businesses to work more closely together to cultivate local digital ecosystems that create innovation partners, strengthen the talent pool and support startups.

“The Asia-Pacific region is at the forefront of the global digital landscape,” said Simon Lin, president of Huawei’s Asia-Pacific region, when releasing the “Digital First Economy” white paper which looks at targeted policy suggestions for digital infrastructure. development of construction and the digital economy in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Huawei is committed to becoming a key contributor to the digital economy in the region. We will continue to support its digitization and sustainable development efforts and develop the industry ecosystem. As countries in the region strengthen ICT talents to boost the digital economy, Huawei would continue to strengthen the talent ecosystem through leadership, skills and knowledge,” Lin said.
