MA weather: Super Bowl Sunday storm could bring 6 inches of snow

MASSACHUSETTS – After a brief respite on Saturday, wintry weather is back on Sunday. What was initially expected to be just a dusting turned into the possibility of snowfall of up to half a foot in parts of the state by Monday morning.

Boston experienced record heat on Saturday, breaking the previous high temperature record of 58 degrees set in 1999. After a sharp drop in temperature, snow set in overnight.

Winter weather is expected to continue throughout Sunday and into early Monday morning. By the time all is said and done, parts of the state could see up to six inches of accumulation.

Western Massachusetts is expected to see the least snowfall, with less than an inch expected. Snow totals are increasing in eastern regions of the state, with the East Coast and Cape Cod expected to experience the most significant impacts from the storm. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the region as far east as Worcester, in effect until 6 a.m. Monday.
